Tourism

Extroversion and tourism are strategic priorities for the development of the Municipality of Piraeus, as the city has a rich cultural and historical background, making it a gateway to the islands and the wider metropolitan area of Attica. Leveraging these advantages is directly linked to economic growth, job creation, the strengthening of local entrepreneurship, and the enhancement of the city’s image at both national and international levels.

The tourism and extroversion strategy includes:

  • Highlighting Piraeus’ cultural and historical assets, such as monuments, museums, cultural routes, and traditional neighborhoods

  • Promoting maritime tourism by leveraging the port, island connections, cruise tourism, and marine activities

  • Developing and upgrading tourism infrastructure and services

  • Supporting local entrepreneurship, especially in hospitality, accommodation, retail, and cultural sectors

  • Developing a comprehensive branding and communication strategy positioning Piraeus as a modern, dynamic, and visitor-friendly destination

  • Organizing cultural and tourism events that attract visitors and strengthen the city’s identity (e.g. “Sea Days”)
