Smart Crosswalks

The Municipality of Piraeus has also invested in the installation of smart urban equipment, which improves citizens’ daily life and enhances the experience of visitors.

At the same time, in order to strengthen road safety, the Municipality has installed to date four smart pedestrian crosswalks, which are equipped with light indicators and motion sensors that are activated by the presence of pedestrians. This technology contributes to reducing accidents, increases the visibility of crosswalks during nighttime, and creates a safer urban experience for all citizens.
