Operational center

Operational Center for the Operation and Coordination of the Services of the Municipality of Piraeus

The Operational Center for the Operation and Coordination of the Services of the Municipality of Piraeus is located on the 9th floor of the Central City Hall of Piraeus and operates on a 24-hour basis. It receives information from the various sensors installed throughout the city and displays the relevant data on the corresponding platforms. More specifically, the center receives information regarding:

  • Building energy consumption

  • Indoor office air quality

  • Street lighting

  • Waste bin monitoring data

  • IT network behavior data

  • Air quality, temperature, and humidity data

  • Seawater quality data

  • Illegal parking data

  • Monitoring data of oil and water tanks in schools

  • Water leakage data

  • Citizen requests and complaints

The Center supervises the communication system between municipal employees and services, as well as the corresponding platform that accompanies it. Through this system, which operates on a dedicated, licensed frequency exclusively for the Municipality and is designed to function even during crisis situations, it is possible to support daily communication while simultaneously recording the location (geographical position) of each transmitter (staff and vehicles), as well as supporting the operation of the Municipality’s Civil Protection services. In this way, the required control and coordination of the actions of the involved services are ensured.

Finally, the Operational Center for the Operation and Coordination serves as the meeting point for all stakeholders involved in decision-making during periods of crisis.
